چکیده

Department of Pharmacology, Objective: To investigate the antinociceptive potential of eugenol on different pain models Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed in mice. University, Poona College of Pharmacy, Materials and Methods: Eugenol was evaluated (1-100 mg/kg, i.p.) in various Pune 411 038. experimentally induced pain models like, formalin induced hyperalgesia, acetic acid *Present Address: Discovery induced abdominal constrictions, and thermal pain experiment using Eddy’s hot plate. Biology, Advinus Therapeutics, Results: Eugenol significantly inhibited acetic acid induced abdominal constrictions, Bioresearch Centre, with the maximal effect (92.73% inhibition) at 100 mg/kg. In formalin induced paw Pune 411057, licking pain model, eugenol exhibited more pronounced antinociceptive effect in the Maharashtra, India. inflammatory phase than the neurogenic phase (maximal effect was 70.33% and 42.22%, respectively, at 100 mg/kg, i.p). A mild reduction in the pain response latency at 100 Received: 31.3.2006 mg/kg, i.p. dose of eugenol was observed in the hotplate thermal pain studies in mice. Revised: 28.6.2006 Accepted: 3.7.2006 In the rotarod motor coordination experiment eugenol reduced the endurance time at the dose of 100 mg/kg, i.p. Correspondence to: Conclusion: The data suggest that eugenol exerts antinociceptive activity in different S.L. Bodhankar experimental models of pain in mice. E-mail: [email protected]

Effect of Fe2O3 Nanoparticles on Anxiety Behavior and Nociception in Adult Male Rat

Background & Aims: Iron is an essential element for correct brain function. Iron deficiency changes some behaviors such as anxiety and nociception. Recently, nano-iron, Ferric or ferro oxide (nano-Fe2O3 or Fe3O4), are used in various applications in agriculture, industry and medicine, but their effects on the heath and behavior is not clear. In this study, the effects of Fe2O3 nanoparticles on ...

The effect of intra-cerebroventricular injection of insulin on nociception of formalin test in non-diabetic and short-term diabetic rat models

Pain is a complex process in the central nervous system (CNS). Several factors can alter the pain threshold and insulin is one of them which is produced by the beta cells of pancreas and capable of crossing blood-brain barrier. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of intra-cerebroventricular (ICV) injection of insulin on the pain response to formalin in short-term induced diabetic ...

Concentration dependent effect of morphine, aspirin, capsaicin and chili pepper hydro alcoholic extract on thermal and chemical pain model in fruit fly (Drosophila melanogaster)

Introduction: Pain research using animal models is related to ethical concerns, so invertebrates and insects have been recommended by researchers. In the present study, the nociceptive and antinociceptive effects of capsaicin, aspirin, morphine and chili extract were examined using fruit fly (Drosophila melanogaster) as an alternative for rodent pain model. Methods: Stage 3 of larvae and ad...

The effects of imidazoline compounds on nociception in animal pain model

The discovery of imidazoline ligands has opened up a new field of study. The investigation of imidazoline actions independent of adrenoceptors started in the mid 1980s. Imidazoline receptors are classified in several subtypes, I1, I2 and I3 binding sites. Although imidazoline sites have been the subjects of research for several years, but there is still controversy about their actions especiall...
